Of Wisps and Trees

In a way, there is nothing that says "October" more than an eerie forest drawing. Well except someone saying the word "October."
I did a number of thumbnails to get this point. Originally I was drawing wisps of smoke in smoldering ruins, then a lone guttering flame surrounded by the dark edifices of buildings. Ultimately though, wisps, at least in the sense I know of them, are fantastic ethereal ephemera. So I wanted to create an "airy" sense of their existence.
